Good luck Téa. Having tried my hand at the freelance web design caper - and having sucked miserably - I know how much is involved in your career of choice and how hard it can be. I bailed out and went back to steady 9-to-5 work. If you can make it happen, I envy you.

I think you bring up some good points (e.g. the glitter images), but I do think that you are being over argumentative about something that doesn’t really matter. And if you think that it does matter, then I do feel sorry for you.
You just seem to be arguing over something that does what it’s main target audience wants it to do, and I’m sorry that that target audience isn’t you.
Bulletins are just for sharing information, however big or small. I do find the crazy amount of “quizzes” and like you said the “OMG-FORWARD-IT-ON-TO-EVERYONE-OR-YOULLDIE!!!1111!!!” but you just have to look past those and just remember that they have the right to do that and if you REALLY don’t like it, just delete them from your friends list. Simple.

I just think it is a great place to talk to friends and bands. Just use other websites for other things. Like this one for your blog, much better than what Myspace has to offer. So just use this instead.

I haven’t produced a book myself, but the client tells me that they have better equipment and easier to use software. Of course, the actual design comes down to the end user and how they use the software, plus the quality of the photos used, but the books look and feel really great. The actual print quality is excellent. I am going to be ordering a couple for Christmas gifts this year — and I will most definitely be pushing the software to its limit because I can!

I use Windows Live Writer to do my blog posts. It handles multiple blogs, allows some cool plugins (most notably Flickr) and allows full offline editing.

I like it. Earlier versions had a problem with embedding YouTube videos but I haven’t tested the latest version for that yet.
